Let me ask you a question... did you wake up this morning with a knot in your stomach? 😣

• Maybe it started last Sunday evening, when the light began to fade, and that familiar dread crept in, reminding you that the tiny window of time that belonged to you was closing and another week of alarms, commutes, meetings, emails, small talk, and waiting for Friday was about to begin.
• Maybe you sat in traffic this morning watching hundreds of other tired people inch towards jobs they do not enjoy, or stood on a packed train trying not to think too deeply about how many years of your life you have spent traveling somewhere you do not want to go.
• Maybe you looked out of the window and wondered what happened to the version of you who used to be curious about everything, who imagined a life filled with possibility, adventure, creativity, new places, new people, and all the time in the world to discover who you might become.

Somewhere along the way, our childlike wonder got replaced with asking permission to take a rest day. What in the world?! And we all just accept that this is what being an adult human looks and feels like. And I get it; we all have bills to pay, mouths to feed; it's a system that keeps us... stuck. Waiting for the weekend. Waiting on the promotion, or a distant retirement where we can finally live out our dreams.

And perhaps, beneath all of that, there is a little voice asking:

I do not believe it is.

I am not going to tell you that work should never be difficult, because work is work, and building something of your own will challenge you too, but there is a world of difference between experiencing hard days while creating a life you chose and repeatedly forcing yourself through a life that makes you feel smaller.

You are allowed to want more freedom...

• over your time
• more choice over where you work
• more control over who you work with
• more space in your life for the person you were before the world told you to be "professional," "sensible," and all those things
