Hey friends, Hannah here 👋 I’m writing from home in the Mexican mountains where it's been unusually cold and cloudy for the past week. From my cozy sofa, I’m currently planning a pretty exciting fall - a speaking tour, European travels, and a whole lot of movement after being relatively settled for a while. And while I’m planning where I’m going next, I’ve been thinking a lot about the thing I’ve spent over a decade helping other people figure out: How the hell do you actually land clients as a VA or freelancer? Because let’s be real, this is the bane of every VA and freelancer’s life (if you let it be). And right now, it can feel especially frustrating. The traditional job market is brutal. Remote jobs are scarce af. Freelancing can feel tricky at times, and simply putting up a website and announcing that you’re available isn’t enough. So if you’re struggling to get clients right now, here are a few reasons why that might be happening: ...A Few Reasons Why You Might Not Be Landing Clients...Ever revamped your website, dropped a hot new social media post, or perhaps launched a brand-spanking new no-brainer offer, fully expecting to be swimming in clients, but it's met with radio silence? Uff. Client acquisition is an art, but it’s not as complicated as it seems. I feel now is a good time to revisit this blog post, a must-read if you’re struggling to land clients but can’t fathom why. Here’s a little sneak peek: 1. You don’t actually want clients. That sounds completely counterintuitive, but hear me out. Maybe you’re scared you won’t know what to do when somebody says yes. Maybe impostor syndrome is kicking your ass. Maybe you’re worried you’ll mess it up. You can say you want clients while subconsciously keeping yourself safely away from actually landing one. 2. You’ve complicated things. Can someone immediately understand what you do, who you help, and what they should do next? Or do they need to navigate three pages, fill in an enormous form, decipher your packages, and then figure out how the hell to contact you? Make hiring you easy. 3. You simply aren’t talking to enough potential clients. This one is MUCH less sexy than redesigning your website or creating another pretty Instagram carousel, but it’s probably one of the most important. How many actual potential clients have you spoken to this week? Not how many jobs have you applied for. Not how many posts you’ve made. Not how many hours you’ve spent “working on your business.” How many conversations have you started with people who could need what you do? Your site, portfolio, socials, mindset, client experience, and so on could be just fine, and you just need more people to know you exist. And I could keep going. In fact, I expand on these and wrote about 11 different ways you might unintentionally be scaring off clients: But I don’t just want to tell you why you might not be getting clients. I want to show you how to actually go get them. 🗓️ Free Class on Sept 29th: First Client Live 🎉On September 29th, I’m teaching a completely free live class all about landing your first, or next, paying client.
We’ll talk about how to find the right people, get in front of them, start conversations, and create opportunities instead of sitting around waiting to be discovered. This is completely beginner-friendly; we'll go over all the foundations you'll need. Because you do not need 100 clients - you need a handful of the right ones. That's a wrap 🌯 Hannah

Hey friends, Hannah here 👋 I wanted to write you a newsletter about how I killed it on stage, about all the business and life hacks we learned, about the networking that was done so smoothly, and how it all translated into better, faster, cooler, newer things for me and how you, too, can apply these learnings. That’s what you write about off the heels of a week-long conference, right? 🤔 The thing is, I did kill it on stage, I did meet great people, I even learned a thing or two. But that’s...

Hey friends, Hannah here 👋 Let me ask you a question... did you wake up this morning with a knot in your stomach? 😣 Maybe it started last Sunday evening, when the light began to fade, and that familiar dread crept in, reminding you that the tiny window of time that belonged to you was closing and another week of alarms, commutes, meetings, emails, small talk, and waiting for Friday was about to begin. Maybe you sat in traffic this morning watching hundreds of other tired people inch towards...
