Hey there, Hannah here :) As we kick off a new week, I want to invite you to a fun little anxiety-busting exercise I often do. One thing I see all the time, whether someone is starting their VA business, raising their prices, changing careers, launching an offer, moving abroad, or making a big life decision, is that they often get stuck in the same loop: “What if it all goes wrong?”And then letting that consume them to the point that they become paralyzed. Truthfully, I think we spend way too much time trying to avoid the worst-case scenario and not enough time actually exploring it. So here’s my unpopular opinion: Dive in 🤿 Let yourself intentionally swim in possibility. 🪄 "What’s the worst thing that could happen?" No really. Spend a few minutes there: what really is your worst-case scenario? Then ask yourself: ➡️ What would I do if that happened? ➡️ What resources could I tap into? ➡️ Who could help me? ➡️ How realistic is this scenario, actually? Most of the time, you’ll discover that the thing you’ve been carrying around in your head is much scarier in theory than it is in reality. And you’ll also discover something else: You’re far more resourceful than you’ve been giving yourself credit for.
🧠 Fun fact: Psychologists have a name for our tendency to do this. It’s called impact bias. Humans consistently overestimate how bad future setbacks will feel and how long they’ll affect us. We assume failure will be devastating and permanent, while underestimating our ability to adapt, recover, problem-solve, and move forward.
In other words, your anxious brain is often a terrible fortune teller. 😉 The goal isn’t to convince yourself that bad things never happen. The goal is to remember that if they did, you’d probably find a way through. Because you always have. And sometimes that’s the reality check we need to stop catastrophizing and start moving. I usually find that after this exercise, I like to look at people and examples of where I want to be, and start creating an evidence bank of the opposite of my fears. Movement in the right direction is what comes as a result! That's all from me for today - I hope this sparked something in you, and if you want to join in the conversation... Have a great week! Hi there! Hannah here 👋 For many years, I could not place why I never fit into traditional workplaces. I had my guesses, yet not once was the reason that I’m lazy, disorganized, or rebellious. So what was it? First, I want to share that I’m not alone in this, and neither are you. Research backs it up. Across thousands of studies, the same patterns keep appearing: people struggle in traditional workplaces for surprisingly consistent reasons: Neurodivergence (ADHD, autism, dyslexia): an...
Hey hey! Hannah here :) I am harping on about Threads so much lately, but for very good reason. I’ve been watching our community experiment with it over the past few months, and something really interesting is happening. The people who are trying the least to go viral are often the ones landing clients (and often going pretty viral too haha). Here’s what I mean. Mistake #1: Treating Threads like Instagram You don’t need a polished graphic. You don’t need a carousel. You don’t even need a...
Hi Reader, Hannah here :) A quick story on how I got my first good client... now, when I say good, I mean they didn't bat an eyelid at my pricing; they paid on time every time, trusted me, respected me, and, in turn, I did great work with them. 🙌 I found her in a Facebook group. She had posted asking for help with a task I happened to know inside out; I replied thoughtfully. She clicked my name, poked around, saw that my messaging was consistent, saw that I worked with people just like her,...
